With London being a stone-throw away from Moscow, Paris, Barcelona, and even New York (I did weekend trips and it does work!), I always thought that moving to London means going abroad for a weekend, every single weekend.
Turns out, flights and hotel costs add up and friends who initially are keen to be spontaneous and jump on that flight suddenly speak about the payday that is not even on horizon and London being an expensive city to live in. One might get sad and turn into colour therapy books instead of travelling, but not when budget airlines come into picture. Having been invited to Golf With Monarch blogger event, I got a taster of what it feels like to leave the city behind and do something new. For the price of a few weekend Uber rides.
Hosted by Monarch Airlines at N1 Golf with a fantastic backdrop of Canary Wharf from the Greenwich Peninsula, Golf With Monarch was an opportunity to sample what one would get on one of the many golf locations Monarch flies to, including Portugal and Spain (minus the flight of course).
With my fabulous golfing partners Michaela and Lucy I received great tips from Monarch and N1 Golf instructors improving my performance one hit at a time. Having taken golf classes before and famous for mastering air shots (or in other words, missing the ball) I surprised myself with finally hitting the golf ball as far as 90 meters.
We then moved to Vinothec Compass restaurant located within N1 Golf then to sample delicious food including Basque Style Crab, Prawn Carpaccio, Twisted Prawn Tempura and Barley, Quinoa and Pomegranate Salad for starters, Tuna Steak, Longhorn Onglet, Cornish Lamb and Sea Bream Bilbao Style for mains and Vinothec Dark Chocolate Cake and Tarte Tatin for dessert.
We were also treated to a beer-tasting (exactly!) including Inedit Damm and Keller 18 from Barcelona and Ebora Ale from Extremadura. Wines were available for tasting as well, including Conde De Haro 2011 Muga, Avancia Curvee de Godello 2013, Bancal Del Bose 2013 and Breca Old Vine Garnacha 2012.
Golf With Monarch has been a perfect mini-gateway that made me feel like jumping on a flight again. (Even though my first flight with Monarch to a yoga retreat in Spain was cancelled on the way back to London, the airline made sure everyone was checked into the nearby hotel overnight and I received a refund for a cancelled flight.)
To check Monarch Airlines’ golf holidays options head here that would be massively appreciated! We’re looking forward to seeing what your experience of N1 Golf on your blog!
